Dr. Sankar Datta
Sankar, educated in Santiniketan (Schooling), Pantnagar (BSc Ag & AH), Anand (PGDRM) and then in Ballabh Vidyanagar (Ph. D Econ), has been engaged in promotion of livelihoods of poor by linking them to various value chains and supporting them through micro-finance for more than three decades now. His experience intertwines between Practice (such as Spearhead Team Leader of MPOILFED, Program Director of PRADAN, Managing Director of IGS, BASIX) and Academics (such as member of the faculty of IIM-Ahmedabad, IRMA-Anand, Azim Premji University) blending theories on the ground and enriching the theory from experiences. He has many years of experience in management of Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in commodities like soybean, poultry and mushroom. He developed the Project Closure Report of the TRIPTI: Odisha Livelihood Mission for the World Bank. He has been engaged in consultancy assignments: Agri Value Chain Finance Strategy Plan of MDFPL for IFC; Case Study of Innovative Agri Value Chain Finance for FAO; being some of them.
Sankar has been a part of various policy fora such as Task Force for drafting the 12th Five Year Plan, Planning Commission; Livelihood Advisory Group, ACCESS; Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation of Chhattisgarh Planning Commission.
