VFS provides sustainable income generation opportunities for underprivileged women in the villages. It extends credit and complimentary financial services to households, entrepreneur and small business owners which create and sustain jobs, reduce poverty and empower their clients, particularly women.
One such woman is Archana Bhattacharya of Ariadaha, Belghoria. It is hard to imagine that once she has gone through an endless struggle against poverty. To support her family, she took training on beautician course and used to go to the customer’s place as and when she got a call.
At that time a VFS representative came to her place and explained her about the services they provide. Archana joined in a self help group in her village and took a loan of Rs. 5000/- from VFS for purchasing beauty products. That time her average monthly income was Rs. 2000/- per month. She was then thinking of getting a permanent place for providing service.
Initially, she has taken a room on rent for beauty parlour but now she has her own beauty parlour and her present outstanding loan amount is Rs. 30000/-. She is now earning around Rs. 10000/- per month. She expresses her gratitude to VFS for helping her change her life.
